Bettie Page Clothing!

New styles have arrived and we still have more on the way! Bettie Page dresses move fast and here's why-
The styles are amazing! They are either amazing re-creations of actual vintage pieces or magnificent interpretations of classic cuts. I studied fashion history in college (yes, it's an actual course! I even had it for 2 semesters!) AND I have collected vintage clothing for over a decade. I have vintage dresses that are some of the same designs!
Another reason these dresses are so popular is due to the fit. The fabric used for most styles is a stretch bengaline material. It is SUPER stretchy but still holds its shape. It hugs you but still allows comfort and the ability to breathe! If you ever wore a fitted vintage dress, you know how difficult they are to wear sometimes. None of the 50's fabrics were stretchy and often had boning to help keep the shape. Hot as all hell but never comfortable. Plus, the bengaline has the look of vintage fabric so the dresses appear more authentic but you get to take advantage of modern science!
Lastly, they're BETTIE PAGE dresses, her name alone has mass appeal! The brand is influences by her sense of style and the era that made her infamous. The line is sexy but innocent, just like Bettie! And, I was told, Bettie receives some proceeds from dress sales.
So, if your looking for BETTIE PAGE CLOTHING, we have the line in stock and keep planning to add to our selection. If you weren't looking for the line, I have given you plenty of reasons to try it!

Devoted Derby Girls

As you may or may not know, Tear It Up is roller derby girl owned and operated. Tear It Up has been an active sponsor of our league, Memphis Roller Derby (MRD), since its inception. MRD skaters and refs, even fans, have always been supportive of the store by either shopping with us, helping promote us, or both. When an opposing league comes to town to bout us, they, too, are supportive of the store. If a customer comes in and learns through conversation that a derby girl owns the company, their interest suddenly jumps several notches. And when a skater is in town for a visit on her own, they still seek out the store to show support. And why? Simply because it is owned by a fellow derby girl!
Derby girls show such strong support for one another because many skaters feel like, even though we are separated into 200+ different leagues, we are all a part of one organization. As in any fraternal organization, FOP, Shriners, or the Freemasons, we are bonded and can only thrive if we support each other. And who would invest all the time and energy most skaters do for their league, if we weren't trying to succeed-
If you are a fellow derby girl and will be in Memphis for any reason, but hopefully to bout MRD, please stop by the store and say hello!
We are located at 895 S. Cooper Street in Midtown Memphis. And, of course, you can find us online from anywhere in the world at www.tearitupmemphis.com. We always have tons of socks and other stuff every derby girl needs and we will be getting in more skirts, bloomers, and skater related items regularly, so check in again!
A big THANK YOU for all the support, past & present!

And don't forget- SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL LEAGUE!
