Video : Massive crater opens up in German town. Swallow a car and a garage door but caused no injuries - a crater some 65 feet (20 meters) deep has opened in a residential district of an East German city. Six homes and 25 people were evacuated.
Lutz Katschmann Thuringia state of the environment and geology agency said it wasn't immediately clear why the ground gave way, the German press association reported DAPD. Katschmann said it was possible that broke underground rock formations, creating a cavity.
Authorities plan to fill the hole with gravel.
